The Medical/Surgical/Pediatric nursing department at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center is staffed with 34 full time and part time registered nurses, 8 full time licensed practical nurses, 7 nursing assistants, and 6 unit secretaries. This department is managed by a registered nurse with 20 years of nursing experience. The nurses that work on the medical/pediatric unit are specialized in pediatric care and have obtained Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification. Most of the nursing staff on these units have obtained Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as well as PALS certification.

The patients admitted to the medical/surgical/pediatric units range in age from infancy to adults and present with a multitude of illnesses. The nursing staff must be competent to recognize changes in the patients' conditions and respond appropriately. They must also perform thorough assessments and work in conjunction with the physician to lead the care team in developing and implementing the patient's individualized plan of care.

Our nursing staff comes from Dyer County and surrounding counties of Tennessee and Missouri. These nurses have varying degrees of education and special interests. Dyersburg Regional Medical Center feels very fortunate to have such a well qualified nursing staff.
